The court dismissed a revision petition of a woman seeking maintenance from her husband, a homoeopathic doctor, who was allegedly shot at by his brother-in-law and father-in-law during an altercation at his clinic.
Upholding the decision of a family court in Kushinagar, which rejected the maintenance application of the wife, Justice Lakshmi Kant Shukla observed that granting maintenance in such a scenario would result in grave injustice, particularly when the man's earning capacity was destroyed by the criminal acts of the wife's family.

Uttar Pradesh government will honour five distinguished luminaries, including Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla, who have brought laurels to the state at the national and international level.

They will be honoured with 'Uttar Pradesh Gaurav Samman' during the three-day event, Uttar Pradesh Day 2026, which will begin on Saturday.

Meta is halting teens' access to artificial intelligence characters, at least temporarily, the company said in a blog post Friday.
Meta Platforms Inc, which own Instagram and WhatsApp, said that starting in the "coming weeks," teens will no longer be able to access AI characters "until the updated experience is ready"
This applies to anyone who gave Meta a birthday that makes them a minor, as well as "people who claim to be adults but who we suspect are teens based on our age prediction technology."
The move comes the week before Meta - along with TikTok and Google's YouTube - is scheduled to stand trial in Los Angeles over its apps' harms to children.
Teens will still be able to access Meta's AI assistant, just not the characters.
Other companies have also banned teens from AI chatbots amid growing concerns about the effects of artificial intelligence conversations on children.
Character.AI announced its ban last fall. That company is facing several lawsuits over child safety, .

Activists said Tuesday that at least 6,126 people were killed in Iran's crackdown on nationwide protests and many more are still feared dead.
The new figures came from the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, which has been accurate in multiple rounds of unrest in Iran. The group verifies each death with a network of activists on the ground in Iran.
The Associated Press has been unable to independently assess the death toll given authorities cutting off the internet and disrupting calls into the Islamic Republic.
Iran's government has put the death toll at a far lower 3,117, saying 2,427 were civilians and security forces, and labelled the rest "terrorists." In the past, Iran's theocracy has undercounted or not reported fatalities from unrest.

Hungary's pro-Russian Prime Minister Viktor Orban accused Ukraine on Monday of seeking to meddle in his country's upcoming elections and ordered Kyiv's ambassador to be summoned to the foreign ministry.
The step was the latest in Orban's long-running anti-Ukraine campaign as he seeks to convince voters that the neighbouring country, embroiled in a war with Russia since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022, poses an existential threat to Hungary's security and sovereignty.
